WHERE FLAVOR WAS BORN
Andreas Viestad
December 2007 Chef's Library selection
One of the most unique and beautiful volumes we saw all year. Viestad is one of the most popular TV chefs in Norway and has made a name for himself as an international food writer. A real culinary adventurer, he has lived in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zanzibar, and his love for the foods of this region inspired this book, which follows the Indian Ocean spice route and the varied flavors that distinguish this part of the world. What most surprised us about this book, aside from the sumptuous photos and descriptions, was how easy it all seemed to create such exotic fare. You may have to stretch to find some of the ingredients, but by and large you should have little problem reproducing these dishes.
