Ken Wells

Ken Wells made a name for himself with a trilogy of books set in Catahoula Bayou down in Cajun country (Meely LaBauve, Junior's Leg and Logan's Storm). His books are funny, suspenseful, and filled with a great sense of place. Tom Wolfe called Wells "the Cajun Carl Hiaasen," and Carl Hiaasen in turn said, "No writer brings Louisiana's wondrous bayou country to life more vividly, or with more affection." In Crawfish Mountain, Wells spins a wild tale of land-grabbing and political shenanigans and achieves, according to Robert Olen Butler, "that toughest of novelistic feats -- combining delight and gravitas."
